Thank you for considering Audiobook Luke Productions for your audiobook. Authors choose between two service packages, outlined below, so you know exactly what to expect before we begin working together. All fees are billed per finished hour (PFH) — the length of the completed audiobook, not the time it took to record it — unless otherwise noted.
Choose Your Package
Package A trades narration fees for a royalty share and a time-limited ownership rights clause. Package B pays narration in full at industry-standard rates, and the author retains full rights from the start. Production pricing is identical either way.
Package A
Royalty Share
Editing & mastering, single narrator.
Editing & mastering, two-narrator or multi-cast production.
Paid via a share of the audiobook’s royalties instead of an upfront PFH fee.
*Ownership Rights Clause: because narration is compensated through royalties rather than an upfront fee, Package A includes an Ownership Rights clause — Audiobook Luke Productions retains part ownership rights in the audiobook for up to three (3) years from the date of the audiobook’s completion, after which full rights transfer to the author.
Package B
Industry Standard
Editing & mastering, single narrator.
Editing & mastering, two-narrator or multi-cast production.
SAG-AFTRA Union Standard rate, paid in full.
Package B narration is paid outright at full industry-standard rates. There is no royalty share and no ownership rights clause — the author retains full rights to the audiobook from the start.
Every Project Also Includes
Script Preparation Fee
A non-negotiable $125 script prep fee applies to every project, regardless of package. This covers manuscript formatting and preparation ahead of recording.
Physical Copy of the Book
The author may send the narrator a physical copy of the book, or the narrator may purchase one on the author’s behalf. If purchased by the narrator, the cost is invoiced as part of the remaining balance.
Proofing Services (Optional)
For authors who don’t have time to perform their own manual proofing pass.
Proofing is optional. Authors are always welcome to proof their own chapters at no charge; this service is available for those who’d rather hand that step off.
Casting Call Services
Provided at no cost when the author elects to have Audiobook Luke Productions produce their project.
Sales Tax
The estimated production fee is subject to Washington State sales tax. Washington’s statewide base rate is currently 6.5%; combined state and local rates vary by jurisdiction (averaging roughly 9.5% statewide). The applicable rate will be confirmed and applied at the time of invoicing.
Deposit & Payment Terms
- A 50% deposit of the estimated production fee is required for every project, under either package.
- The deposit is due no later than seven (7) business days before production is scheduled to begin.
- The remaining balance — including narration fees under Package B and any narrator-purchased book copy — is due upon completion and delivery of the final audiobook files.
